  • CJS comments: “Pat Boone’s first hit was his rendition of Fats Domino’s ‘Ain’t That a Shame.’ Both records were released in July of 1955 with Domino’s own version peaking at #10 in the charts while Boone’s went all the way to #1. Boone (b. 1934) made a career of ‘covering’ (some would label it ‘ripping off’) R&B songs of black artists who could not get the same airtime as he did due to the racial climate of that era.”
