according to this, “A Few Moments with Eddie Cantor is an early sound film made in Lee De Forest’s sound-on-film Phonofilm process in 1923”
it’s a real curiosity, showing what successful humour consisted of in those days and also demonstrating a method of creating talking pictures that didn’t win the battle of the standards (think VHS v Betamax)
that battle was won instead by the Warner Brothers Vitaphone method, which was used to make “The Jazz Singer” (1927), a clip from which the Stumblng Tumblr linked to recently
